Statistics published by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) shows that liposuction is the second most popular cosmetic surgical procedure globally with 1,614,031 procedures in 2013. According to these statistics, liposuction was the fourth most popular procedure among men worldwide. One of the most interesting findings is that Brazil has become the new plastic surgery capital of the world, edging out the US for the first ever. It has been also revealed that liposuction, the most popular procedure among women, has also become the favorite for men in Brazil.
According to one report, Brazilian men are seeking liposuction surgery to look younger and improve career prospects. Last year, a total of 184,933 men in the country had aesthetic procedures performed, which is about 12% of the total number of procedures. Of this, 27,529 men underwent the treatment to remove fat from areas such as the chin, waist and abdomen. According to ISAPS, 80% of these procedures are performed during adolescence, making liposuction the top plastic surgery procedure among men in the 25-50 age group.
In the United States too, liposuction stood fourth in the list of top 5 cosmetic surgery procedures, with 200,000 procedures. Among men, it was the third most frequently preformed treatment with 24,000 procedures. Moreover, the demand for male liposuction increased 3 % from 2012.
Lipolysis helps men resolve several issues such as gynecomastia (overly large breasts) and stubborn fat deposits in a wide range of areas such as the back, face, neck flanks, hip, knees, abdomen, and upper arm. Advanced safe and efficient technology such as SmartLipo Triplex allows experienced plastic surgeons to perform abdominal etching to help men achieve the much-desired six-pack abs without restrictive diets and rigorous gym workouts.
