Liposuction – The Cosmetic Surgical Procedure that Celebrities Love

by | Published on May 15, 2019 | Plastic Surgery / Cosmetic Surgery

Liposuction is one of the most widely accepted cosmetic surgical procedures today. According the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), a total of 258,558 liposuctions were performed in 2018, an increase of 5% from 2017. Though both men and women undergo liposuction, the demand for female liposuction in Manhattan is on the rise, with new mothers, models and others undergoing the procedure to rejuvenate their appearance following pregnancy or weight gain. In fact, many celebrities are even openly admitting to having liposuction, with American rapper Cardi B being the latest to do so.

It was during a performance at the recent Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis that Cardi opened up about her liposuction procedure, reports Allure. Between songs, the star paused and says “Let me tell y’all something. I shouldn’t really be performing.” She told her fans that moving too much could take a toll on her liposuction.

Liposuction improves appearance and self-esteem and celebrity-inspired requests are growing, say NYC plastic surgeons. While celebrities previously tried their best to hide the work they’ve had done or deny a “job”, things have changed. There’s less shame associated with cosmetic surgery now and it’s becoming more common for celebrities to be more open about the procedures they’ve had done. For instance, the Kardashians generously admit to fillers and even try out new procedures in front of the cameras.

Though Kardi hasn’t said when she had her procedure, recovery liposuction recovery generally takes a few weeks. With innovative laser technology, liposuction can be performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia, with a much shorter recovery period than traditional lipo.

Laser liposuction using the FDA-approved Smartlipo Triplex workstation is a minimally invasive procedure that allows optimal fat reduction with minimal pain and downtime. The workstation comes with high-definition sculpting capabilities. Equipped with three laser wavelengths (1064nm, 1320nm and 1440nm), the system works to disrupt fat cells and coagulate tissue, resulting in tissue retraction and skin tightening. There is less bleeding, swelling and bruising than in traditional liposuction. Patients experience only minimal scarring, pain and discomfort. The device has intelligent delivery systems such as SmartSense™ with ThermaGuide™ and ThermaView™ that constantly monitor and regulate skin temperature, and maintain safe levels of treatment.

However, not every woman is a good candidate for the procedure. Healthy people who are close to their ideal weight but have localized fat deposits that are not responsive to diet and exercise are ideal candidates for liposuction. Those who have health issues such as diabetes mellitus, a heart condition, poor circulation, an infection, past history of bleeding or a coagulation disorder (such as thrombophilia), should first check with their primary care physician before undergoing laser liposuction. Liposuction is also not recommended for people who are on medication that interferes with blood clotting (blood thinners such as aspirin, warfarin and heparin).

Reliable AAAASF-accredited plastic surgery facilities offer Smartlipo in New York. The recovery and results of the procedure depend on the skills and experience of the provider and so it is crucial to choose the right surgeon if you are planning to undergo laser liposuction.
